Michael Kalish

Disabled individuals need an attorney who understands their pain and financial need, who knows their name, and who can guide them through the complicated maze of obtaining Social Security disability benefits: an experienced attorney whose professional expertise can get them the benefits they deserve and worked so very hard for.

That's where I come in.  I'm Michael Kalish, an attorney living and working in southern California,  focusing  my law practice exclusively on the legal needs of disabled individuals.

After completing a 20-year career in the U.S. military, I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a bachelor's degree in history followed by a juris doctorate degree from the William S. Richardson School of Law in Honolulu, Hawaii. After law school, I completed a one-year legal clerkship with the chief administrative judge for the Second Circuit Court on Maui.  In 1999, I was admitted to the Hawaii bar and have been practicing law ever since.  I began representing Social Security claimants as a staff attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii and in 2004 I opened my own law practice in Honolulu, Hawaii.  In addition to representing clients before the Social Security Administration, I represented clients on business, consumer, bankruptcy, real estate and family law matters throughout Hawaii.   I have represented clients in both the state district and circuit courts as well as well as on appeals to the ICA and Hawaii Supreme Court.  I have represented clients in federal district court as well as before the federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2011, I retired from the Hawaii Air National Guard and relocated to southern California to focus exclusively on Social Security Disability advocacy.  To date, I have represented thousands of clients at all stages of the application and appeals process. I have appeared before hundreds of Social Security Disability judges throughout California, Hawaii, Washington, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada.  I represent and assist my clients at each stage of the application process: from assisting with completing the initial applications forms, through developing a strong evidentiary case by gathering supporting medical evidence and treating source's statements, to vigorous advocacy on the client's behalf before a federal administrative law judge at hearing on the client's claim for disability benefits.

I am an active member of National Association of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (“NOSSCR”) and the National Association of Disability Representatives (“NADR”).   With more than twenty years of representing clients before the Social Security administration, I have the experience, the knowledge, and the commitment needed to win your Social Security disability claim.

  • I am so grateful for Mr. Kalish and his firm

Mr. Kalish thank you so much for believing in my case and fighting for me. I know I would not have won my benefits if I had used any other law firm. Because I was in my early to mid 30's when we started most disability attornies thought it would be to difficult for me to win because of my age. Af...
